My mother, stepfather, and Mermaid hair don’t care vintage shirt, all English, were visiting Paris (France) a few years ag. Possibly more than a decade ago now. They were on the Metro, the Paris underground, and had managed to get on without tickets. They were not trying to get away without paying, they just didn’t quite understand how the system worked. A guard came around asking for tickets, at which time things got a bit awkward, given that they didn’t have any. After a short period of explanation, and unsuccessful negotiation, it got a little bit nasty and the guard quite rightly told them to get off. My mother most indignantly stood up and shouted at the guard that she was “British, and you’d be speaking German now if it wasn’t for us”, and was promptly ejected from the train!

At this Mermaid hair don’t care vintage shirt’s, her father having been killed early in WWII. She was not anti-German, it’s just that the war is still a big deal in the UK, especially, but not limited to, the older generation, and is still referenced with monotonous, if not occasionally inappropriate, regularity. Not a parent but the affected kid. When I was about 6 months old my dad noticed a weird shiny gloss over one of my pupils, took me to the doctor and they told him I was fine, nothing to worry about, and that it was probably a trick of the light. A couple months later I’m having trouble seeing stuff, and since I’m just a baby I’m having trouble learning to crawl and stuff, turns out I was diagnosed with cataracts, glaucoma, and a novel sized list of other ailments. My parents both fought to be heard and now I’m 23, legally blind, but I can see better than any doctor ever imagined I would.
